Friction, on purpose
A pause between asking and receiving gives you time to be sure. Most impulses don't survive a two-week wait.
Holdout is a savings app you can't raid on impulse. Put money behind rules you choose — a waiting period, a lock date, a limit on withdrawals — and a bad afternoon can't undo months of saving.
Why Holdout
Most savings accounts are one tap away from your checking account. That's convenient, until the day it isn't. Holdout puts a little distance, of your choosing, between wanting your money and having it.
A pause between asking and receiving gives you time to be sure. Most impulses don't survive a two-week wait.
You decide how strict each goal is: a notice period, a lock date, a withdrawal limit, or any mix of the three.
Once a rule is set it's enforced automatically. No override button, no exception process. Not for you, and not for us.
How it works
Set it up in a few minutes. After that, the rules do the remembering for you.
Sign up with a passkey, using Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint. There's no password to remember and nothing to write down.
Name what you're saving for and choose how it's protected: how much notice you need, whether it's locked until a date, and how often you can withdraw.
Top up any goal whenever you like, by card or from your balance. No minimum to keep, and nothing to pay for leaving it there.
When you need money out, request it. Once your notice period is up (and any lock date has passed), withdraw it back to your account. Changed your mind while waiting? Cancel the request.
A look inside
No dashboards to learn and nothing to configure. A goal, the rules on it, and a wait you agreed to.

Savings rules
Each goal can have its own rules. When a goal has more than one, every rule has to be met before money comes out. Try them below.
Ask for your money, then wait out the notice you chose, from one day up to a year. Time to be sure, built in.
Nothing leaves the goal before a date you pick, up to five years out. Made for a house, a wedding, or a rainy day that isn't today.
Cap how many withdrawals you can make in each period, so one withdrawal doesn't quietly turn into five.
You can tighten a goal at any time: a longer notice, a later date, fewer withdrawals. You can never loosen or remove a rule. That's what makes it a promise and not a suggestion.
Every deposit can be reversed in full for 24 hours after you make it, whatever the goal's rules. Once that window closes, the rules take over, with no early-exit fee and no exceptions.
Security and control
Holdout is built so that we never hold your money. We can't move it, spend it or change your rules.
Your savings sit in an account that you alone control. Holdout has no access to your funds and no ability to withdraw, redirect or change anything on your behalf.
You sign in with a passkey protected by Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint. There's no password to leak or phish, and it can back up to iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager.
Money leaving a goal can only go to the account it came from. It can't be sent to anyone else, and that includes us.
Because we can't touch your account, we can't recover it either. If you lose your passkey and every device it syncs to, access is gone. Keep passkey backup switched on.
Pricing
Holdout costs nothing to use and takes no share of what you put away. Moving money has typical transaction fees, always disclosed before you confirm.
Card processing is set by our payment partner, not by Holdout. The bank-transfer fee is ours. Both are shown in full before you confirm, and there is no penalty for leaving money where it is. See section 12 of the Terms.
FAQ
Can't find what you need? Email support@locklogistics.net and a real person will reply.
Both. Holdout is on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android, free on each.
No. Holdout is software that enforces savings rules you choose. Balances in Holdout are not bank deposits, are not insured by the FDIC or any other scheme, and don't earn interest.
Only within a deposit's 24-hour change-your-mind window. After that, money comes out when your rules allow and not before. There's no emergency button and no fee you can pay to skip the wait, and our support team can't override it either.
That's the point of Holdout, so please only lock away money you won't need before your rules let you have it.
Yes, but only to make them stricter. You can lengthen a notice period, push a lock date later, or allow fewer withdrawals. You can never shorten, loosen or remove a rule.
Your passkey can be backed up by your phone's password manager (iCloud Keychain on iPhone, Google Password Manager on Android). With backup on, sign in on your new phone and everything is where you left it.
If you lose your passkey and every device and account it syncs to, we can't recover access. We don't hold a copy, and that's what keeps your money out of anyone else's reach.
We can see what the app needs to show you, such as your goals and balances. We can't move, withdraw or redirect your money, and we can't change your rules. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect and why.
The app is free, and Holdout takes no share of your savings. Creating goals, holding money and taking it back out of a goal cost nothing, however long it sits there.
Moving money has the usual payment costs. Adding by card carries our payment partner's processing fee, and sending money to your bank costs 1% on the free plan, 0.65% on Plus, less on larger amounts. Both are shown before you confirm.
No. Holdout doesn't lend, invest or pool your money. It stays exactly where you put it, which also means it isn't growing while it waits.
Holdout is built and operated by Lock Logistics LLC, a small company based in Rogersville, Tennessee. You can reach us any time at support@locklogistics.net.
Withdraw your money first, then request deletion from the Account tab in the app or by emailing support. Section 9 of the Privacy Policy covers what's deleted and what can't be.

Free on the App Store and Google Play. Set up takes a minute: create a goal, pick its rules, and let the waiting period do the rest.
Holdout is young software, and savings rules can't be undone once a deposit's window closes. Start with amounts you're comfortable with. By using Holdout you agree to the Terms of Service.
